Boy Band

Amboseli, Kenya, 2014

My remote control work with elephant herds in Amboseli has produced some big images over the last four years. There is a great deal of chance involved as it is almost impossible to influence the shape and formation of the elephants as they approach the prefocused area - usually 5 - 7 feet from the camera.

So much can go wrong and tension points, in an otherwise perfect shot, can ruin that shot - hidden heads, broken tusks or closed eyes. It is all in the hands of the gods and it must be remembered that this is a low percentage approach - that is why the rewards are high.

This image is clean and the formation has a peaceful calm to it - almost as if they were in a studio posing for an album cover, hence the title - Boy Band.
