There is a profound depth to humanity that gets unleashed when we’re having fun. The lightheartedness that it inspires allows us to break down barriers and preconceived notions and simply exist within the moment. Nowhere is this more clear than in the expression that Whitford has managed to capture on the face of a Tibetan monk. Culturally, it is believed that monks and religious figures maintain a constant stoicism, and in upholding that belief, we are doing a disservice to people who, despite their profession, are still very much human. This piece belongs in Humanity for its pure, unadulterated gaiety that proves there is no age, race, or profession limit on allowing oneself to be carefree.
