MAJESTY SURFACING
Yukon, Canada, 2012
A strong and beautiful grizzly bear emerges from a shallow dive for salmon in the Fishing Branch River in Canada’s northern Yukon. Bears dive after large runs of chum salmon that arrive here to spawn. Grizzly bears hate submerging their ears, as listening is their keenest sense, with scent a close second, and sight a distant third. This is one of the few places in Canada where grizzly bears are protected from hunting.
