Love is perhaps the most powerful emotion in existence, driving some of our most basic human needs. The phrase “Love always wins” is commonly associated with the LGBT+ community, reminding us that love is a worthy and beautiful concept regardless of whom one feels it for. Perno’s photograph assigns further significance to the phrase by juxtaposing it against the proud buildings in Chicago. It’s as though the composition of the photograph and its primary message are meant to exist simultaneously.
