CHICAGO – Hilton Contemporary is pleased to present MONUMENTS OF STILLNESS, a public exhibition by American artist Carole A. Feuerman on Chicago’s the Magnificent Mile of Michigan Avenue (north of the Chicago River) beginning Friday, May 22, 2026.

The exhibition featuring 10 monumental swimmer sculptures on the prestigious Michigan Avenue, Hilton Contemporary will simultaneously host a solo show devoted to the artist’s oeuvre at Hilton Contemporary in both their River North and Bridgeport locations. Dates to be announced.

The 10 monumental sculptures along Michigan Avenue will be on view through November 2026, after which, the sculptures will travel to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Sponsored by Hilton Contemporary, this exhibition marks the artist’s first public installation in Chicago. Monumental size bronze sculptures (some measuring 9′ to 10′) along with her hyper realistic epoxy and resin works will be on display in front of the iconic Wrigley Building, Chicago Tribune Building, Neiman Marcus, the Shops at North Bridge, Vacheron, Burdeen Jewelers on Oak Street, along with many other locations on the legendary boulevard.

The Magnificent Mile, a 13-block stretch of Michigan Avenue running from the Chicago River to Oak Street is known for its upscale shopping, fine dining, historic and architectural landmarks. Not since the Cows on Parade will an installation of sculptures be as powerful, dynamic and at the same time, sublime and meditative.

Spanning more than five decades, Feuerman is credited as being one of the founding members of the hyper-realistic art movement which started in the 1970s. Today, at 80 years old, she is the only female artist who creates hyper-realistic painted outdoor sculptures.

The playful series of sculptures shows swimmers sitting on beach balls, lounging on inner tubes, and in divining positions. Bright vibrant colors make the sculptures pop against the streetscape and skyline while metallic and reflective accents make them glisten in the sun. The installation is an open invitation to summer fun.

Recurring motifs, water, stillness, and fragmentation, form a visual language that reflects the tension between external composure and inner experience.

Recent exhibitions include Reborn Into the Water at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan (2026–2027), and The Voice of the Body at Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome (2025). Her work is also included in the traveling exhibition Ceci n’est pas un corps, which brings together leading figures in hyperrealist and figurative sculpture, including Duane Hanson, John DeAndrea, Maurizio Cattelan, and Ron Mueck.

Recent public presentations further extend the visibility of her work. Her sculpture The Diver was presented during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games at the base of the Eiffel Tower, where it functioned as a symbol of the Olympic spirit. This same sculpture is currently at the entrance of Hilton Contemporary location at the Morgan Arts Complex (3622 S. Morgan Street) in Bridgeport.

Feuerman’s work has also been exhibited along Park Avenue in New York, situating her sculpture within the context of large-scale public installation.

Feuerman’s work is held in numerous museum collections and private collections worldwide, including the collections of President Bill Clinton, the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, and collectors such as Malcolm Forbes, Steven Cohen, and Andrea Bocelli among many others.

In 2011, Feuerman founded the Feuerman Sculpture Foundation, extending her commitment to supporting emerging artists and advancing sculpture within contemporary cultural discourse.

On May 1st, 2026, Feuerman was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center (ISC) recognizing her sustained contribution to the field of contemporary sculpture.
