Laundry on the Mandare
Berenty, Madagascar, 2008Through the fog of a tropical fever, I forced myself to stop when I saw this scene of drying laundry and two emaciated cows seeking water in the dry river bed of the Mandare River. Other than the Mandrare, there are no other sources of water available. I knew I would be back in my hotel that night and my heart ached for the people of this village whose life is forever ruled by drought.
