Captured during a break from shooting the movie Kelly's Heroes (1970). Filmed largely in Yugoslavia, the production had a loose, almost improvisational energy that contrasted with the rigidity of traditional war films, and Eastwood’s understated, controlled acting style became the anchor amid a more eccentric ensemble cast that included Donald Sutherland and Telly Savalas.
