Unconditional

Ross Sea, Antarctica, 2011

As winter turns to spring, baby penguins poke tiny beaks through delicate eggshells and begin exploring their vast, new polar surroundings. Meanwhile, four-foot-tall, 80-pound parents consider the precious fruit of their months-long labor with great curiosity. I am awestruck by the dedication emperor penguins demonstrate for their young – this piece is in celebration of a truly unconditional love.
