TUSKED TITANS

Spitsbergen, Norway, 2007

Walrus travel long distances in large groups searching for clam beds, which are their primary food source. With the loss of multi-year ice, these walrus are forced to rest on land between feeding forays, causing them to expend more energy, and leaving them more susceptible to polar bear predation.
