High King

High King

Segera Conservancy, Kenya, 2025

Resting high on his kopje throne, a large male lion keeps watch over the Namiri Plains of Tanzania. These ancient granite outcrops rise like islands from the grasslands, offering shade, perspective, and a natural fortress. Here, the air is still, and every movement on the plain below is noticed. Lions in this region thrive thanks to a strong prey base and an ecosystem kept intact by years of careful protection. To see a male like this--well-fed, alert, and unbothered by nearby rivals--is to witness nature as it was always meant to be.
