Reina

Patagonia, Chile, 2024

When my friend Rodrigo invited me to come to Chile last summer and hike at the base of Torres del Paine, I could not pack my cameras fast enough, anticipating towering peaks, endless skies, and maybe, if I was lucky, a glimpse of Patagonia’s legendary cats.

What I did not expect was a detour through Brazil, a misplaced passport, and a snowstorm that pinned me down in a mountainside cave with a wild puma for company. Needless to say, it was one of the best birthdays of my life.

The cat that stuck with me most, however, was none other than Petaka—a bold female with impossible grace, utterly at ease in the presence of humans. She is also a fiercely devoted mother, having raised multiple kittens with the poise of an apex matriarch.

‘Reina’ is my tribute to a monarch who wears scars in lieu of a crown and walks on silent paws. Available as a limited edition of only six archival pigment prints per size, each accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
